The Lime Kiln Valley runs westward into the Gavilan Mountains at the base of Mount Harlan. It drains into the Cienega Valley a few miles north of where the Cienega Valley opens into the San Benito Valley. The Enz Vineyard is sheltered in the far west of the valley before
the canyon walls close. It is on a 5% north facing slope surrounded by hillsides with exposed veins of limestone and dolomite. Soils are a mix of granitic and calcareous. The Mourvédre block was replanted in 1923, and is dry-farmed without herbicides and with organic fungicides.
