2016 POE Van der Kamp Pinot Meunier Rosé Sonoma Mountain

Salmon-hued yet electric in the glass, the 2016 Poe Sparkling Rosé exhibits crushed rose, fresh strawberry, and subtle spice with perfect texture to balance the lively acidity.

The sparkling rosé comes from the Van der Kamp Vineyard on top of Sonoma Mountain. The vineyard lies at a 1,400-foot elevation looking down on the town of Glen Ellen to the east and Bennett Valley to the northwest. It is possibly the oldest planting of Pinot Noir in the state, planted in the early 1950s, and organically farmed.

The Pinot Meunier was picked on August 24th of 2016 and fermented in neutral French oak barrels with native yeast and without sulfur. After primary fermentation, we kept the sulfur below 10 parts free for the next 11 months, before putting it into bottle for sparkling fermentation. It aged on the lees in bottle for the next 32 months before being disgorged.
