Chateau Grand Village Rouge: 10 ha of clay-limestone soil
Vineyard under sustainable viticulture
Manual harvest with double sorting at the vineyard and a third sorting in the cellarIt was my remote ancestor, Jacques Verdery, who founded Chateau Grand Village in 1650. This vineyard is in fact the birthplace of our family of vignerons. The estate is situated in Mouillac, a part of the canton of Fronsac, and covers 50 hectares of land, including 13 hectares of vineyard positioned on the plateau and gentle slopes of Grand Village, and the rest of woods and meadows.
Together with my wife Sylvie, we took charge of the vineyard of Grand Village in 1980. We still cherish sweet memories from that period like the 1982 vintage and most notably the grandiose 1990, a memorable testimony of the great potential that exists in our clay-limestone terroir at Grand Village.
For the last twenty years we have been writing a new chapter in the story of Grand Village. Our son Baptiste and his wife Julie joined us in the beginning of the new millennium, and together we embarked on a new adventure, taking a bold decision to work the vineyard and vinify the wines of Grand Village with the same approach and philosophy that we employ at Lafleur.
Chateau Grand Village quickly became a singular wine, a down to earth Bordeaux crafted with the means and in the spirit of a grand cru. Complex and elegant, the wine is centered around a refined and mineral tannic spine. Chateau Grand Village is today, beyond any doubt, the “Village” of Lafleur.

- Winery Description
Sylvie and Jacques Guinaudeau started their professional life in the world of wine in 1981 as the caretakers and winemakers at Château Grand Village, owned by Jacques’ family since 1650.
At that time, Therese and Marie Robin, Jacques’ aunts, were the sole owners of Château Lafleur and Château Le Gay in Pomerol.
After the passing of Thérèse Robin in 1984, her sister Marie, too elderly to manage the two châteaux alone, proposed Jacques and Sylvie to take charge of Château Lafleur as leaseholders.
It is in the beginning of the 2000’s that Baptiste Guinaudeau joined his parents at Lafleur, together with his wife Julie.
The family dream came true when they became the sole owners of Château Lafleur in 2002.
Today, they all advocate the same passion for subtleties, precision and finesse, which has always been the family signature.
The six Crus of Société Civile du Château Lafleur
Our family is the sole owner ofSociete Civile du Chateau Lafleur.
Within this family operation, we produce wine from six distinctCrus atour RightBank properties. Vine growers atheart,we accompany our vines and our wines while they grow, day in and day out.As we have always done atLafleur, today we handle each ofour vineyards with a distinct personal touch.
Chateau Lafleur
Founded by our directancestor HenriGreloud in 1872.
Chateau Lafleur derives each year from the same small block called simply "Lafleur", situated on the plateau ofPomerol. The quality ofthe soils and the heritage ofold vine genetics atLafleur are priceless. Our family and the entire team ofSociete Civile du Chateau Lafleur are committed to preserve this unique place. Chateau Lafleur is a rare and mythical wine, associating in a singular way power and finesse.
Les Pensees
Founded in 1987 by Sylvie and Jacques Guinaudeau.
Les Pensees originates from a small stretch of Pomerol-clay in the center ofLafleur's gravel- dominated vineyard. The Cru ofLes Pensees brings together finesse and complexity, resulting in a distinctinterpretation ofLafleur. Historically a much coveted second wine, Les Pensees evolved into a defined Cru detached from the surrounding Lafleur's parcels. Today Les Pensees is considered as one ofthe greatwines ofthe plateau ofPomerol.
Les Perrieres
Founded in 2018 by Julie and Baptiste Guinaudeau.
The Cru ofLes Perrieres is our reinterpretation ofthe old Bouchetand Merlotgenetics from Lafleur, expressed through the greatlimestone terroir ofthe Fronsac region. The Cru ofLes Perrieres is composed offive adjacentparcels on the plateau ofMeyney.Quality and precision of tannins, together with restrained power and persistence make Les Perrieres a distinctive wine whose connection to Lafleur is beyond any doubt.
Les Champs Libres
Founded in 2013 by Julie and Baptiste Guinaudeau.
Les Champs Libres is the resultofour ambition to create a greatwhite wine ofthe RightBank. This young Cru is a reflection ofthe Lafleur philosophy through the lens ofwhite grapes. Les Champs Libres originates from four distinctparcels on the clay-limestone soils ofthe plateau of Ambeau. The wine produced from this Cru does notabide by the codes ofwhite Bordeaux.
